Skills For a Fresh Start

My Workforce Future is transforming lives through innovative Work Ready Bootcamps in regional detention centers, funded by the Department of Labor’s QUEST grant.

Designed for individuals within 90 days of release, these one-week programs provide critical workforce preparation, including:

  • OSHA-10 General Industry Certification

  • First Aid, CPR, & AED Certification

  • Financial Literacy Training

  • Soft Skills for the Workplace

Whenever possible, the bootcamp concludes with an on-site Job Fair/Hiring Event, connecting participants directly with second-chance employers.

With strong support from KY Adult Education Reentry and Employment Services Branch, the program breaks cycles of incarceration, equips participants with essential tools, and builds brighter futures for individuals and communities alike.

During a break, one of the inmates shared his journey of homelessness and battling addiction. He explained that for a long time, he had felt lost and that being incarcerated seemed like another chapter in a downward spiral. But then, he said something that resonated deeply: "I wound up here for a reason." He shared how this bootcamp was part of that reason, because it was giving him hope for a different future—a life where he could support himself, stay out of trouble, and contribute positively to society.
